The Summer Solstice occurs today, Sunday, June 21st at 12:38 PM. At this time, the Winter Solstice occurs in the Southern Hemisphere, as well. This will be our longest day of sunshine in 2015. While we’ve been enjoying longer, brighter days until now, the days will begin to grow shorter starting tomorrow. Solstice comes from the Latin solsitium, or “sun stands still.” The solstice marks the official first day of summer, and has been celebrated for its symbolic importance since ancient times. Whatever your plans for Summer 2015, wishing the very best, and a memorable Summertime, from Far West Sonoma!
